1760, Monroe County.
At the junction of the Tellico River and Cane Creek, the Fort Loudon force which had surrendered to Chief Oconostota and other Cherokee Chiefs, was returning to Charleston, SC, when their safe conduct was betrayed by an attack. Twenty five were killed, the rest were taken prisoner.
